Having made contact with the British Embassy in West Berline the team are preparing to cross the border. East Berlin, German Democratic Republic , January 1950 Sven lands on the roof of the highest building overlooking the designated crossing point on the eastern side of the boarder. He had set out from the guest house, leaving the sounds of Baldrick slurping brandy behind him, and headed to get the lay of the land. He nestles into a perch and watches through the pouring rain before flapping across to the western side and locating a similar snipers nest on that side of the crossing. Airport near Rostov-on-Don, Russia , USSR , January 1950 The EIS team huddle in their stolen car a couple of miles away from the airport discussing what to do next, and knowing that the clock is ticking on the Russian authorities seeking Einstein, Madeline and Mimi agree to go in during daylight hours to scout the military building on the airport grounds in an attempt to get more information. This final door proves to be a tricky customer and it was with some relief that Madeline heard the tell tale click of the mechanism opening. It was still snowing very heavily, which the team were thankful for as they knew that it would cover the tracks of Einstein and the Mimi leading him. Kurchatov, E astern Kazakhstan , USSR , January 1950 Sven Hyse bends over the prone body of the Russian guard and pulls his axe from the dead man's chest, he then checks through his pockets and finds his identification papers as well as a small bunch of keys. He picks up the two pistols and AK-47s and places them on the small table within the room before grabbing a flashlight and stepping towards the door of the gatehouse. As Sven steps through the doorway and out into the cold night air he transforms into the image of Stalin and crunches quietly as possible through the snow to the main gates. He reaches up and lifts the securing bar gently from its hold

Arround midday Alfie feels a tremor in the floor of the boat house and Billy swears blind that he can hear the faint rumblings of an explosion in the far distance. They both decide to tell the others when they awake, and both promptly forget. As night sets that evening the team once again prepare to head out into the blizzard like conditions. They plan to split up and search for food, munitions, inspect the aeroplane, and identify the number and positi
