This final door proves to be a tricky customer and it was with some relief that Madeline heard the tell tale click of the mechanism opening. It was still snowing very heavily, which the team were thankful for as they knew that it would cover the tracks of Einstein and the Mimi leading him. Kurchatov, E astern Kazakhstan , USSR , January 1950 Sven Hyse bends over the prone body of the Russian guard and pulls his axe from the dead man's chest, he then checks through his pockets and finds his identification papers as well as a small bunch of keys. He picks up the two pistols and AK-47s and places them on the small table within the room before grabbing a flashlight and stepping towards the door of the gatehouse. As Sven steps through the doorway and out into the cold night air he transforms into the image of Stalin and crunches quietly as possible through the snow to the main gates. Kurchatov, E astern Kazakhstan , USSR , January 1950 By six in the morning on the cold Saturday the EIS team had made it back to the prefabricated boat shed and hunkered down for the day, leaving Alfie and Billy awake to watch their backs. Arround midday Alfie feels a tremor in the floor of the boat house and Billy swears blind that he can hear the faint rumblings of an explosion in the far distance. They both decide to tell the others when they awake, and both promptly forget. As night sets that evening the team once again prepare to head out into the blizzard like conditions.
