The death of Billy Hill...

Acting swiftly on an early morning telephone call from Superintendent Chapman, MI6s team of enhanced individuals have arrived in Eastcastle Street where Billy Hill had been sighted. They round the corner and find that they have entered the scene of an ongoing Post Office van robbery. MI6s team consists of Alfie Baldrick, the one man rifle section; Mimi Dubois, maƮtresse of skills; Madeline Forsyth, the living shadow; and Sven Hyse, the Norwegian shapeshifter.

London, England, August 1948
I quickly try and push my senses into Billy Hill but I fail to break down his mental shields, and in attempting to do so I realise that I have tipped him off to the fact that we are enhanced as well. I watch as he turns and points at our car while shouting something to his gang. The gang member wielding a Sten gun spins in our direction and opens fire at the front of our car. The bullets rip through the front of our vehicle and pepper Charlie in the drivers seat. The sound of the gangster's gun is echoed by the sound of a machine gun from the other end of the street and I can see yet another gang member firing his gun at someone unseen around the corner.

Sven leaps out of the passenger side of our car, and Alfie follows suit. Madeline transforms into a shadow and slips away behind them. I am relieved to see Charlie, seemingly uninjured, also exit the vehicle on the passenger side and crouch low as he opens the boot of the car while Alfie ducks behind the bulk of the car and starts to duplicate, and it was then that I remembered that this was not a quick process for him. Sven pulls out his trusted rifle and leans across the bonnet taking aim at the chaotic scene playing out in front of him.

I had made the decision to stay within the security of the car and hunkered down low pushing out with my senses trying to discover which of the known enhanced we might be dealing with. But then another burst of gunfire ripped through the front of our vehicle and one of the bullets nicked my left arm and convinced me to get lower. As I do so, I push my senses into the second of the gang's enhanced individuals and unpick what his strongest enhanced ability is. I laugh out loud when I discover that it is ridiculous luck, how I could have done with that before the bullets started to fly.

Billy Hill dives into the passenger seat of the car blocking the rear of the postal van just as Sven exhales slowly and gently squeezes the trigger on his rifle. The gang member with his Sten gun levelled at us drops to the floor unmoving. Sven chambers another round and starts seeking his next target. But all of the gang members have jumped into the vehicles and both cars and the postal van start to pull away in convoy. Madeline, using the early morning shadows, slides along the edge of the road heading steadily for the rear car and manages to slip onto the underside of the car before it gets up to speed.

Sven jumps into the back of the car and instantly his form starts to shrink and dark feathers start to push out of his flesh as the transformation into a bird begins. I push out again with my senses against the third of the criminal enhanced and discover that their strongest power is the ability to stretch to unfeasible limits. It becomes clear that there are far more enhanced criminals than we had first thought. As the vehicles pull away Charlie steps out from behind our car and fires a burst of bullets at the drivers side of the rear car, his aim is true and the driver slumps forwards dead at the wheel.

Realising that the gang are getting away, and very aware that I was not in possession of any enhanced powers to help, I pushed my senses into the gang member with ridiculous luck and borrowed his power. The gangster's rear car continued to roll forwards, despite the fact that it's driver was dead, and then the drivers door was opened and the body pushed out as Billy Hill slid across into the drivers seat. Charlie sprays the road with bullets, but misses the rear wheels of the postal van and it continues to pick up speed. Madeline slides into the back seat of the gangsters car and can see Billy Hill just taking control of the rolling vehicle and starting to pull away. She gently slides forwards onto the back of the drivers seat, and then quietly as a shadow slips onto the back of the driver himself.

Knowing that they will soon be out of range I push out again with my senses trying to discover what the fourth enhanced's power is, I make contact and ascertain that they are capable of shaping sound waves into an attack in the form of a sonic blast. Just before they get out of my range I borrow the sonic blast enhanced power. Then a curious thing happened, the kind of thing that would have seemed beyond belief several years ago when I was singing in Parisian bars, the myna bird in the foot well of the car looked up at me and squawked;
Look for the flare! RAH!
It then flapped out of the open door and into the sky, heading after the postal van. I leapt into the drivers seat of our bullet riddled car and shouted for the Baldricks to get in. Much to my surprise, the car started first time and I started to pull away in pursuit of Billy Hill. Both Alfie and Charlie managed to leap in before I picked up any speed and the three of us raced towards the junction of Eastcastle Street and Wells street, as we approached a police car shoot across the crossroads in hot pursuit of the postal van.

As we cross Wells Street still chasing Billy Hill we can see the bullet riddled remains of another police car, so at least we knew what the other gunman was shooting at. Billy Hill attempts to turn north into Berners Street, but he is travelling too fast and crashes his car into the wall of the house opposite. I slide our car around the bend at speed and slam on the brakes skidding our car to a halt blocking his passenger doors and effectively trapping him inside the car. Charlie points the Sten gun at him and Alfie covers him with his pistol while shouting;
Stick 'em up!
Billy Hill kicks out the passenger window and shouts;
You'll never take me alive copper!
It was then that his head exploded in a shower of ice crystals! I remember that we were all stunned into silence as we climbed out of the drivers side of our vehicle and looked at the headless body of Billy Hill. I asked out loud what happened and Alfie responded;
His head exploded Ma'am!
I stated that it was probably an enhanced ability that went wrong and watched as the colour drained out of Alfie and Charlie's faces. They spent the next few minutes asking if that sort of thing happens regularly, and wondering aloud if their power might be dangerous, when we spotted that Madeline was sat in the rear seat of of car.

Much later on I discovered that Sven had followed the postal van from the sky and had seen the passenger of the lead car shooting at the front of the pursuing police car, forcing it to swerve and crash. The car and postal van then stopped on Hallam Street and one of the gang jumped out and picked the lock on the back of the Post Office van. Once open they quickly unloaded a number of bags into the back of their car. Sven took the time to transform into a pigeon, thinking that he would blend in far better in that form. He then followed the car as it drove slowly and steadily away, at one point they pulled into a dilapidated mews and switched cars, and then they drove with more purpose towards the docklands.

The car pulled up outside a ruined industrial building where there were several more cars parked. Everyone grabbed bags and split the loot between four new cars and drove off in different directions. Sven made the decision to follow one of the criminals who had been in the postal van and tailed him into Whitechapel.
