Wendigo...

Having heroically rescued Madeline and Mimi from beneath the Montauk Institute the team of EIS agents have fled and gone to ground in Falmouth trying to figure out what to do next. The EIS team consists of Alfie Baldrick, the one man rifle section; Mimi Dubois, maîtresse of skills; Madeline Forsyth, the living shadow; and Sven Hyse, the Norwegian shapeshifter.

Falmouth, Massachusetts, United States of America, October 1949

On Lieutenant Colonel Sawdon's instruction Madeline leaves a cryptic message for Mr Shannon to contact us a a specific radio frequency, a trick that the team used frequently during the war. Later that night Sven is woken by the sound of the boats onboard radio, and he instinctively shakes Mimi awake to deal with it. Mimi grabs the radio handset and confirms that she is listening and the static hazed voice of Mr Shannon asks for our location. Mimi responds:
Just off the north coast of England.
Sven, realizing his mistake, grabs the handset from Mimi's grasp and apologizes to Mr Shannon telling him that Mimi isn't feeling herself. He tells Shannon that we are contacting him for a debrief and so Shannon arranges to meet the team at the Central Park carousel at 12 pm the following day. Sven hangs up the radio handset and turns to look at Mimi:
Now that you and Madeline are back, I shouldn't be in charge!
Sven then stomps off of the deck in search of Alfie. He wakes the Corporal and tells him that the team need to get to New York, Baldrick immediately climbs out of his bunk and starts to get dressed. Within ten minutes the team are up, dressed, and ready to move. They agree that they need to steal a car to get themselves to New York in time for the meeting and so Madeline selects a Cadillac Fleetwood and using her lockpicks opens the drivers door. While she is working on the ignition lock Mimi swaps the number plates from the Fleetwood with another car in the parking lot and Alfie and Sven load all of the teams equipment into the trunk. The engine roars into life and Baldrick jumps into the drivers seat, Mimi is about to get into the passenger seat to navigate as always but Sven stops her and looks at Madeline:
She can't navigate, she just keeps lying. You'll have to do it!
Madeline shrugs and climbs in next to Alfie while Mimi and Sven climb into the back seat. The team hit the outskirts of New York in a heavy rainstorm just after nine thirty in the morning. Madeline guides Alfie through the Sunday morning quiet streets of New York to Central Park and gets him to park the car two hundred yards from the carousel on East 65th Street. The team split up into three groups with Sven and Alfie heading directly to the carousel, Madeline and Billy Baldrick loop anticlockwise around the area while Mimi and Charlie Baldrick loop clockwise. Madeline spots a couple of parked cars nearby, one of them containing a suspicious looking individual. Mimi also spots a couple of men in long rain coats stood around smoking looking suspicious. They both relay this information through the Baldrick network, and as Mimi is closing on the suspicious car that Madeline had spotted, so that she can get a better look at the occupants, the car pulls away. Alfie and Sven remain at the carousel while the rest of the team return to the car.

Just before 12 pm a taxi pulls up near the carousel and the driver gets out and heads towards the merry go round. Billy informs Alfie that Mr Shannon is approaching and both he and Sven turn to face the undercover British agent. Mr Shannon asks Sven where the rest of the team are and Sven replies:
I have a question first. There is concern about a potential kill order.
Mr Shannon genuinely looks shocked and replies:
What? Absolutely not. I know nothing of such a thing. Shall we go to the taxi and continue this discussion in private?
Sven nods his assent and as they begin to move, Billy turns to Madeline and tells her that they are moving to the taxi. Madeline climbs out of the stolen car and heads for the taxi as well. She arrives just after the others have climb into the back of the vehicle and she follows suit and seats herself directly behind Mr Shannon. The taxi pulls away and Mimi turns to Billy Baldrick:
Follow that cab!
With a smile, Baldrick pulls out into the traffic behind the taxi cab. Inside the taxi Madeline relays in detail everything that happened beneath the Montauk Institute, including the fact that Mimi has been compromised by the disadvantages that she suffers when borrowing the enhanced powers of some of the Doctor Jackal created enhanced individuals. Sven also relays his meeting with Philby at Idlewild Airport the day that Albert Einstein went missing. Mr Shannon tells the team that the CIA are making noises and are seeking to speak to anyone who spoke to Philby in the last few days. Shannon also admits that his last report to Philby was telling him that Einstein was enhanced. Mr Shannon informs them that the two federal agents tasked with watching Einstein were found dead in their car outside his house, and there were signs of a break in at the Einstein residence.

Madeline says to Mr Shannon:
What are we to do now? We have been compromised and have no idea what Oppenheimer will say, but he can describe us all.
Mr Shannon responds:
It sounds like the Americans have their own problems to worry about. As for your team, Doctor Jackal was spotted yesterday morning at Las Cruces airport in New Mexico. It was just blind luck that he was seen by one of our agents. The agent followed him but Doctor Jackal just disappeared. That was thirty hours ago, and we are working on the assumption that he is heading for the White Sands testing facility.
With the team momentarily stunned into silence, Mr Shannon tells Alfie to reach under his seat and when Baldrick does so he finds an envelope containing four new passports. An American passport in the name of Preston Hughes, a British one under the identity of Cheryl Gladstone, Corralie Blanc a French national, and a Norwegian passport for one Bjorn Christiansen. In the following car Billy looks at Mimi and nods towards a road sign saying that they are heading towards the airport. As Billy thinks that, Alfie looks back into the envelope and can see four plane tickets from Idlewild Airport to Albuquerque Airport. Mr Shannon looks over his shoulder and seeing Alfie holding the tickets he says:
The aeroplane will take you to Albuquerque and you will then have to make your own way to Las Cruces where an agent will make contact with you.
An hour later the team have stowed their luggage and are walking across the tarmac towards their flight. Mimi looks at the plane and is excited when she realises that it is the new B.O.A.C de Havilland Comet, the world's first commercial jet airliner. There are about twenty passengers onboard and as the aeroplane rockets along the runway both Alfie and Sven look nervous and sick as their stomachs lurch. The voice of the Captain sounds over the tannoy:
Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to B.O.A.C flight 6452 to Albuquerque. The flight time is a little over five hours and I apologise in advance, but it looks like we will encounter some bad weather and turbulence en route.
As the de Havilland Comet is cruising somewhere over Texas Madeline gazes out of the small window and realises that it is snowing quite heavily outside, she checks with the hostess and has it confirmed that this is very uncharacteristic for Texas. Madeline turns her gaze back to the window and is sure that she sees something on the wing of the aeroplane silhouetted in a flash of lightening. But then it is swallowed from sight in a flurry of snow. She turns to Alfie next to her to see if he spotted it, but realised that he would be no assistance when she sees him snoring gently. That is until a second later the aeroplane hits some extreme turbulence. The Captain's voice then sounds in the cabin:
Sorry for the turbu...
The Captain's voice it cut off by a large crash and the sound of the cabin rapidly depressurizing. The engine on Madeline's side then bursts into flame and Madeline, this time, definitely sees a tall boney form crawling across the wing of the aeroplane. It's skull like head turns to look at her and she can see the stag like antlers protruding from it's horrifying skull. The horror then leaps from the wing and is lost in the snow storm. From her knowledge of the occult the creature can be only one thing, and one word rises to her lips. Wendigo!

Then the engine on Sven's side of the aeroplane bursts into flame and there is the sound of metal wrenching apart from the front of the aeroplane. The two remaining engines are struggling to keep the aeroplane aloft and next the Comet starts to nose down and plummet towards the earth. Madeline reaches out with her enhanced ability and starts to cool one of the burning engines while Mimi pulls herself out of her seat and heads towards the cockpit. When she reaches the connecting door to the first class compartment she struggles to pull the door open, and when she succeeds there is a rush of decompressing air and she realises that a large part of the fuselage has been torn away.

Mimi closes the door again and heads back to Madeline. She quickly borrows Madeline's shadow form ability and heads back towards the cockpit. As she is climbing her way up the aisle, Mimi transforms into a shadow and slides under the intervening doorway and through the first class compartment. Mimi slips into the cockpit just as an explosion rips through the left side of the aeroplane, Sven glances out of the window and spots the skull antlered horror before it is lost in the snow. He turns back to the others and shouts:
There’s a thing out there! On the wing!
Inside the cockpit the main windows are blown outwards and the area is covered in blood splatter. There is also no sign of either the pilot or co-pilot. Mimi slides into the pilot's seat, turns solid and attempts to pull the aeroplane out of its fatal nose dive.
